His name is Andy Enfield and he is the current head coach of the most pulsating team in the NCAA Men's tournament. No, not one of those blueblood programs that are perennial national title contenders. I'm talking about Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). The school's first student was celebrated in January 1997, their basketball program did not reach Division 1 until 2007! Now they are one of 16 teams with a chance to win the NCAA tournament, AS A #15 seed. It's not like they played a cupcake schedule either with games against VCU, Miami (win), Duke, St. John's and Iowa St prior to their conference games. No wonder they weren't scared of a weak #2 seed in Georgetown. Moreover, their up-tempo style of play, swagger and athleticism has endeared them to neutrals. When someone asked their point guard where the school was located after the Georgetown game, he said Dunk City, USA.

Andy Enfield was a 4-year starter and leading scorer for Johns Hopkins from 1988-1991. He is STILL the NCAA's all time leader in free throw percentage. After college he got his Master's in Finance at the University of Maryland. Enfield began a company called All Net consulting which allowed him to be a shooting consultant for NBA players and teams. He then became an NBA assistant for 6 years with the Milwaukee Bucks (1994-2000).

In 2000, Enfield co-founded a healthcare software company called Tracked Manager, which at one point was valued at $100 million, he sold his shares in 2006 for "millions." In 2003, he met a successful model named Amanda and was convinced by his friend to carpool with her to an Oklahoma St game to save her money on the flight (she is a fan and Oklahoma native). He has some unselfish friends...maaan. Enfield said that, "once he saw her he knew that it would be a good trip." But they were NOT dating at the time.

On their first date he took her to a Taco Bell prior to a college basketball game, saying that he figured if she still like him after Taco Bell and a basketball game...." Respeto. He returned to the college basketball scene as an assistant coach at Florida State University for 5 years until he was hired by FGCU in 2011.

Dos Equis should be looking at a new leading man for their ads, Johnathan Goldsmith has nothing on Andy Enfield. The FGCU phenomenon will have two major ripple effects moving forward: FGCU enrollment will be wayyyy up in 2014 and Enfield will get looked at for positions at "big" division 1 programs (see: UCLA). After all, their are located in sunny and beautiful Fort Myers, Florida. Being that he is a millionaire already, he might just stay with the Eagles. Long live LOB CITY EAST.
