Chelsea FC: A club in transition

After watching every kick of the ball in Chelsea's game vs. West Bromwich Albion this morning and nearly having a heart attack during the last 10 minutes, it is crystal clear to me that we are a club in transition. People may not want to hear it because of the sums we have spent on players in the last  Last year' double (Champions League and FA Cup double papered over cracks (we finished 6th in the English Premier League). In addition the departures (loan and sales) of Drogba, Mierles, Essien, Lukaku and McEachran has led to a squad that is so thin we were forced to buy Demba Ba in the January transfer window.

Let me take a step back and explain our ownership situation for those readers who may not know about the football club. Chelsea FC (CFC) is owned by a Russian oligarch who has the patience of a 3 year old however, during his reign (2003-present) we have won more trophies than any other club except for Barcelona and have become one of the premier clubs in the world. In 10 years we have had 10 managers but he provides an unlimited budget for player transfers (players your team can buy from other teams during specific times called 'transfer windows.' It is quite the conundrum. Our annual trophy expectations are: an English premiership title (no lower than a 3rd place finish), FA Cup (English Domestic Tourney), Capital One Cup (English Domestic Tourney) and the grand daddy of them all (no, no, not the Rose Bowl) but the coveted Champions League trophy (even with all our success over the past 10 years we have only won this one time).
